SOA and CAS provide diagnostic breakdowns showing your performance by topic area. Analyze which sections you scored lowest in and compare against the syllabus weights. A low score in a high-weight section represents the biggest opportunity for improvement. If you passed, the diagnostics still reveal areas to strengthen for future exams that build on the same material.

Adjusting Your Strategy

If you failed, compare your study hours and methods against your results. Did you under-study certain topics? Was your practice exam performance a reliable predictor? Consider whether you need more hours, different materials, or a different approach. Talk to candidates who passed and compare strategies. Document your lessons learned while the experience is fresh. If you passed, note which study methods worked best and apply them to future exams. Each exam result, whether pass or fail, contains information that makes your next attempt more efficient if you take time to analyze it.
