Actuarial Exam Day: What to Expect at Prometric
A walkthrough of the Prometric testing center experience for actuarial exam candidates.
Before You Arrive
Arrive 30 minutes early with two forms of valid identification, including one government-issued photo ID. You cannot bring personal items into the testing room: no phones, watches, wallets, or food. Prometric provides lockers for your belongings. You will receive a dry-erase board or scratch paper and a basic calculator may or may not be provided depending on the exam.
During the Exam
After check-in and a brief tutorial, your exam timer starts. The testing room has individual workstations with noise-reducing headphones available. You can take unscheduled breaks, but the timer does not pause. Flag difficult questions and return to them later. For computer-based exams, the interface allows you to navigate between questions freely. Stay calm if the environment feels unfamiliar and focus on your strategy. After submitting, some exams provide preliminary pass/fail results immediately, while others require weeks for official results.
